ABOUT AGE CONCERN
Since its formation in July 1978 Age Concern Carlisle & District has grown from a very small local organisation to an organisation that has responded to the needs of older people and can offer a very wide variety of services.
We campaign and seek to influence decisions that affect older people. We aim to listen and respond wherever we can in order to make more of life as we grow older.
Age Concern Carlisle & District is a local, independent Charity that works in the Carlisle district. All the funds we raise are used locally to provide services to older people in our community.
These services run with the help of more than 300 dedicated volunteers who give their time and commitment for the benefit of others.
We offer opportunities for you whether you are an active person or whether you now need more help.
Our aim is simple: to help everyone make more of life.
The things we do ensure that you have the opportunity to live your life to the full. We do that in ways that may surprise you.
We believe that age should be valued and that there should be just as much choice available to the old as there is to the young.
We believe by providing as little or as much help as you need you will be able to stay independent for longer.
We campaign for your rights and when you need information you can rely on us for the facts. In this way we broaden your choices and enable you to do things your way and make your voice heard.
We use our authority, influence and expertise to change perceptions and to improve the quality of later life today and in the days ahead.
In approximately 50 years time 50% of the population will be aged over 50. Age Concern is committed to encouraging society to plan ahead to meet the needs of the future, so that today's younger people can look forward to a fulfilling older age with security and dignity.
